EU funds in Poland 2021-2027: 76.5 billion euro of opportunity
Poland is the largest recipient of EU cohesion money: for 2021-2027 the European Commission allocated 76.5 billion euro to the country through the Partnership Agreement. That money flows into infrastructure, innovation, the energy transition and regional development, and part of it is directly or indirectly accessible to companies established in Poland, including those with foreign owners.
Where the money goes
The 2021-2027 cohesion funds finance road and rail projects, digitalisation, research and development, and the green transition of the Polish economy. For entrepreneurs that means two things. Directly: grant programmes that a company established in Poland can apply to, for example for innovation, sustainability or new production capacity. Indirectly: a steady stream of tenders and supply opportunities around the large infrastructure and energy projects.
Who qualifies?
The basic conditions for business grants are straightforward: you have a company established in Poland (for example a sp. z o.o.), the company aims for profit and focuses on production or services, and you can show that you finance at least 25% of the project yourself or through a bank. Programmes are published regionally and thematically; which scheme fits depends on sector, location and investment plan.
Combining with tax advantages
EU grants and Polish tax schemes reinforce each other. A new factory can, for example, receive a grant for the investment and obtain a corporate tax exemption on the resulting profit through the Polish Investment Zone. The order and combination require care; have the structure calculated in advance.
The context: an economy accelerating
The EU money lands in an economy growing on its own strength: 3.6% GDP growth in 2025, with 3.5% forecast for 2026. The number of foreign investment projects rose 13% in 2024. Whoever builds a position now benefits from both movements at once.
